Dragons Den
Outline:
There’s a show called Dragon’s Den that has people with some crazy schemes looking for a sucker, er, a capitalist to invest in their ideas. Guess what? You and your team have the same opportunity! Get busy brainstorming with your team to come up with a product that these capitalists will fight over just to fund it. Entrepreneur Dreams is a great event to get the team work flowing while devising time management, juggling the product’s budget and even devising a way to pitch the idea.
In your team you must design and construct a product for a particular trade such as toys, electronics, leisure or some other industry. You are given a specific budget you all must adhere to so it is important to work as a team delegating jobs such as design, sales, production, marketing, product development and funding.
There will be an instructor on hand to guide you through brainstorming sessions and provide some advice on how to best allocate your budget and grab the attention of the money people. Once the product idea is decided upon, your team will get to use part of the budget to purchase the materials necessary to create it. The trick to the store where the materials are purchased is that it is first come, first served so you want to try and get there first before some other team grabs the materials you need!
Get your facts straight before meeting with the capitalists to pitch your idea. Presentation is very important so you all will want a team member that will dazzle the people holding the purse strings. The capitalists will make their decision on which team to fund once they have seen all the presentations.
There are only two teams that will win place medals and one that will win the trophy for best product idea. Here are the money people you will have to impress:
Harold Smith - the owner of a chain of department stores and personally worth about 65 million dollars.
Manhattan Chase - a self-made international banker worth about 200 million dollars.
Steve Apple - computer IT guru with about 45 million dollars in the bank.
